Thoughts at the half

The U.S. has not gotten into gear. NK has the crowd behind them, and has really looked more technical. It's not quite like watching Brazil toy with the men, but it's disconcerting to see a team run around the U.S., because it happens so rarely.

It's exciting though, as a straight-up soccer game. It's nice to see the U.S. get challenged. It exposes the global game as stronger than many imagine.

I have to say that I love Heather Mitts talking on the halftime show that the defense needs to step up. Yeah, not only is she right, but as one of the most versatile and tenacious defenders before her injury, there is probably a part of her itching to make that happen.
